Phenotype weak allele; homeotic conversion of sepals (first whorl), with marked difference between the morphology of the medial and lateral first-whorl organs; medial first-whorl organs vary acropetally from wild-type sepals or central phylloid- marginal petaloid mosaic to leaf-like, bract-like, or bract-like-carpel-stamen mosaic; lateral first-whorl organs are bract-like or absent in the more apical positions; second-whorl in basal flowers is wild type, in apical flowers is absent but when present they are petal-stamen mosaic or wild-type stamens; phenotype varies acropetally, with more complete conversions in basal flowers and at low temperature.

Description Activation-tagged stock which has altered microRNA production which produces pleiotropic developmental defects. The result of CaMV 35S enhancer (from pSK1015) in the JAW locus results in microRNA mediated alteration of TCP transcript which controls leaf development.

Description pSKI015 insertion. Arabidopsis Knockout Facility at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
|
Phenotype
Loss of JAGGED function causes organs to have serrated margins. In leaves, the blade region is most severely affected. In sepals, petals and stamens, the strongest defects are seen in the distal regions. By monitoring cell-cycle activity in developing petals with the expression of HISTONE 4, we show that JAGGED suppresses the premature differentiation of tissues, which is necessary for the formation of the distal region. The localization of defects overlaps with the expression domain of JAGGED, which is restricted to the growing regions of lateral organs.
