Phenotype
The plant appears to have spaces in the xylem in a position that is normally occupied by xylem elements. Also shows an irregular pattern of secondary cell wall formation in the intefascicular region, with some cells possessing very thick secondary cell wall, with other cells failing to initiate any kind of secondary cell wall. Recessive, behaves as a simple mendelian mutation
