Germplasm Info
Genus: Caulanthus Species: amplexicaulis
Growth requirement: Difficult to germinate. Germinates sporadically over time (bet hedging strategy). Better germination rate and synchrony can be achieved by 2 to 3 days of cold stratification treatment (at 4 C in the dark) in 10mM KNO3, 1mM GA3 and 1mM KAR1. After planting, best germination is in slightly warm conditions (28 to 30 C) in a 12-hour day/night cycle. Will grow in well-draining potting soil under conditions typically used for Arabidopsis and other cool season Brassicaceae.
Phenotype
