expressed in several tissues during vegetative and reproductive growth, primarily localized in the shoot apical meristem, down-regulation of expression occurs as leaf primordia are initiated, decreases during the floral transition and is restricted to the cortex of the inflorescence stem; defects in leaf development: first two leaves are normal in shape but all subsequent rosette leaves are highly lobed (irregular or asymmetric across the midvein), leaves are usually curled and/or wrinkled with ectopic meristem occurring on rosette and cauline leaves; defects in floral development: abnormal or reduced elongation of sepals, petals and stamens, reduced fertility; slow growth; dominant, transgenic stock.
