Thrips:

Fumigate with nicotine 40% shreds (DowElanco Ltd) or Lindane smoke pellets (Octavius Hunt Ltd) at 14 day intervals. If the infestation is severe fumigation may be carried out 3 times at 7 day intervals, although this may result in some scorching of the plants. Alternatively, granules of Temik 10G (Union Carbide, or Basudin 5G (Ciba-Geigy Agrochemicals) may be sprinkled around and watered in.
