3.6 Growth response to the 5 th condition

Again all of the strains germinated on the same day (4), and yet again the N933 strain germinated the most seedlings with 12. The N20 germinated more seedlings when compared to the N1601 ecotype on the first day, but by day 5 more seedlings of the N1601 ecotype had germinated in comparison to the N20 strain. Compared to the first condition again it took 1 day extra before the all of the ecotypes started germinating. The N933 strain also started developing true leaves quicker than all the other strains, by day 8 and by the end of the 14 day experiment 18 out of 20 seedlings had all developed true leaves.

It appears here that the N20 strain had an extremely high probability of chance when germinating giving p values of 0.93 compared to the control experiment. However, again the N1601 strain had the lowest value for p of 0.04. Clearly pre-treating seeds with 2 hours in a freezer at -20 ºC helped germination. As with all of the examples so far the N933 strain again showed no significant effect with the differing germination conditions.
