All of the ecotypes germinated on the same day however, the N20 and the N933 ecotypes germinated quicker than the N1601 strain. The N933 strain germinated more seedlings than the N20 ecotype and the seedlings grew from the A characteristics (2 cotyledons) to the B characteristic (2 cotyledons and true leaves) faster in the N933 strain.

A paired two type t-test was used to determine the significance of the data. When comparing the individual strains within this condition only the growth rate of N933 compared to that of N1601 was significant with a p value of 0.08. The N20 compared to the N1601 strain was not significantly different (just) with a p value of 0.06. This was performed to find the strain that had the highest growth rate in the experiment.
