The following scientific program was prepared by the North American Arabidopsis Steering Committee (NAASC) (elected by electronic ballot by North American subscribers to the Arabidopsis electronic bulletin board). The current members of the NAASC are Frederick M. Ausubel, Harvard Medical School (Chairperson), Joanne Chory, Salk Institute, Gloria Coruzzi, New York University, Joseph Ecker, University of Pennsylvania, Mark Estelle, Indiana University, and David Meinke, Oklahoma State University. In addition, Mike Sussman, University of Wisconsin, served on the program committee.

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION AND RECEIPT OF ABSTRACTS IS APRIL 5. THE TITLE, AUTHORS AND TEXT OF THE ABSTRACT MUST FIT WITHIN AN AREA 12 CM HIGH BY 16.5 CM WIDE. THE AREA AVAILABLE FOR EACH POSTER IS 4 FT (120 CM) HIGH BY 3 FT (90 CM) WIDE.

Some of the registrants who submit poster abstracts will be chosen to present a talk in the appropriate session.

Rooms will be available for anyone who wishes to organize a workshop before or after the meeting or during the designated time: 4:00 to 6:30 on June 10. Provide a title and list of participants to the Wisconsin Union address below or to Rick Amasino by email at amasino@biochem.wisc.edu

Travel notes: For those who wish to schedule flights in and out of Chicago rather than Madison, there is bus service from the Chicago airport to the Wisconsin Union meeting site provided by the Van Galder Bus Company (9 departures per day; $17 per one way ticket). This service is not reserved for the meeting and this company does not accept reservations or advance ticket sales. Tickets are purchased at the airport. The time of our meeting is scheduled when there is unlikely to be a large demand on the bus service. The number to obtain the schedule is 608-257-5593.

For those flying from Boston, New York (LGA), Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Dallas, San Diego and Los Angeles to Madison, you might want to consider Midwest Express Airlines (800-452-2022) which provides first class service to all seats at regular fares.
