NASC Stock Detail Page
NASC ID: N23886
Name: twin (twn); twin1 (twn1); emb214
ABRC stock number: CS23886
Description: twn1 seeds were from a large collection of embryo-defective mutants identified by the Meinke laboratory (Errampalli et al., Plant Cell, 1991), from the K. Feldmann T-DNA collection. Does not contain a functional T-DNA insert, no antibiotic resistance. Submitted seeds obtained from a selfed twn1 homozygote, previously backcrossed more than once to Ws.

Phenotype
Incomplete penetrance and highly variable phenotypein mutant embryos. About 8 % of seeds contain embryos that display suspensor proliferation or polyembryony; Some twin embryos are viable and germinate. In addition to twinning, some embryos show variable defects in the embryo proper early in embryogenesis. Cotyledon defects are present in about 10% of embryos/seedlings and occur independent of twinning. Defects in cotyledons/leaf organization do not extend into post-embryonic development beyond the first leaf pair. Mutant phenotype(s) appears to be embryo-specific.
