Phenotype

fucose content in leaf polysaccharides reduced to approximately 1 percent of wild type; slightly dwarfed; decreased tensile strength in elongating inflorescence stems; encodes GDP-mannose-4,6-dehydratase, first enzymatic step in conversion of GDP-mannose to GDP-L-fucose; same as fucose synthesis.
