Description
The gene REDUCED POLLEN NUMBER1 (RDP1) was identified as a key factor associated with pollen number in Arabidopsis thaliana. Research showed that RDP1 is strongly linked to pollen number through genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and exhibits significant effects in natural allelic variants, confirming its role in the evolutionary reduction of male gametes in predominantly selfing plants.
