stomata occur in clusters, containing an even number of guard cells; effect is stronger in cotyledons than true leaves; stomata nearly absent from inflorescence stems; overall plant morphology similar to wt, but siliques are slightly smaller; encodes a leucine-rich repeat-containing receptor-like protein expressed in proliferative postprotodermal cells; glabrous plants (gl1), lacking trichomes on leaves and stems; backcrossed 3 times to wt; reported locus: At1g80080
