Description: CRISPR/Cas9 generated knockout of EcCYP87A126, the cytochrome P450 responsible for sterol side chain cleavage and the initiation of cardenolide biosynthesis in Erysimum cheiranthoides. One bp insertion in coding sequence of CYP87A126 (Erche04g002680) results in loss of function and complete loss of cardenolide accumulation in plant tissues. No obvious visual phenotype or special growth requirements.
